IBJ, That's excatly waht I meant by my question. We klnow only part of the truth but that's not the truth. I mean when you read the profile of this man, it is clear that he is more dangerous than actually those who planted the bomb. He is fluent in English and different langauges, he moves freely in Europe, well not now because he is under arrest in Italy for being member of a terrorist organisation (Al-Qaida).
This leaves me skeptical about the whole business of the war on terror. I think Muslims should also be skeptical and more circonspects about radicals because the radicals are clearly playing in the hands of the Neo-cons.
I think nobody has done more harm to Islam and Palestine than Bin Laden.
right on. from my vantage point, it's all theater. like if the evening news told me that bush had spaghetti for dinner, i would totally be skeptical about whether that's true.
There is a common theory in Spain currently that the Zapatero government, together with the Spanish secret services was complicit in the execution of this crime. Considering recent political manoeuvres within the country I am inclined to give this theory some credence.
Old wounds from the civil war are being opened once again. You just don’t get to hear about these things in the Anglosphere media.
Wolfie, "Old wounds from the civil war are being opened once again." I think in the case of spain the wounds were never healed. Spanish just choose to ignore them but they are coming back to haunt them.
I am really worried about the potential manipualtion of terrorism for political ends. It goes against common sense. I have a hard time believing that someone can work against its own country and its own people to change the political course and bypass the normal democratic process. But the fact that our democracies have quietly put the War Against Terror at the center of the political, and not the criminal, process, and the fact that this is where the War On Terror is producing its major results, on the home front, are indications which are contrary to what my common sense dictates me to believe.

Sophia, thanks so much for you kind words left at my place at these saddest of times. They were very much appreciated. Really.
Richard,
I wish my words can alleviate your pain but they won't. They however express my feelings at your loss.
this man was acquitted because.....
we will never know truly why!
we will never know truly why anything happens, truly. only half truths are devulged here and there.
