The Jewish Republic of Israel

Before Iranian society was taken by Islamists, a state, unlike the religious foundation of Israel, which everybody understands is transitory in Iran since there are many reformists in Iranian society, Israel banned the Beatles and refused them entrance for fear of bad influence on Israeli youth.
Still reeling from the sight of Israeli teenagers swooning to the tunes of Cliff Richard in 1963, Israel's publicly appointed guardians of good taste and morality, the interdepartmental committee for authorising the importation of foreign artists, refused their entry.

"Israel in the early 60s was afraid that from the west would come a bad wind of sex, alcohol and rock'n'roll".

Quite ironic that its taken so long for them to allow a somewhat quaint English pop band whose ditties were more like nursery rhymes when modern Israel is so much more.
