Syrian Protesters In Homs (UPDATED): The Government killed And Mutilated Three Of His Own In Order To Incite Sectarian Strife!

This kind of crazy propaganda from Syrian protesters reporting to western news outlets has been going on for long now. Giving credence to such statements is like giving credence to the saying that the US government was behind 9/11 in order to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. And giving credence to these statements from the Syrian revolution 2011 is like giving credence to the Syrian regime explaining that the bloodshed in Syria is done exclusively by protesters who want to accuse the regime of the bloodshed! So either we believe all three possibilities or we reject them alltogether! Any other alternative is like picking and choosing what we want to believe in without further evidence.

On Sunday, residents of Homs, Syria’s second-largest city, discovered the bodies of three Alawites mutilated and dumped in a deserted area, according to Omar Idlibi of the Local Coordination Committees, a group that helps organize and document protests. All three were armed government loyalists, he said.
News of the deaths enraged other Alawites, who went on a rampage, according to residents and activists. Three people were killed, including a mother of three, and scores of shops owned by Sunnis were burned and vandalized, Mr. Idlibi said.
“The reaction was so violent and quick that we suspect the regime had a hand in the killings,” Mr. Idlibi said.

For how long will they be lying about the blood on their hands? And for how long western media are going to give credence to these lies by publishing them?

UPDATE:

A letter on the sectarianism of the protesters

It seems that the main feature of the Syrian revolution 2011 is the alliance between western (US) funded Syrian exiles and salafis, the former using the latter as proxies in their attemtp to topple the Assad regime, but ultimately salafis also will use exiles. Here is a facebook page for the Homs revolution: on the upper right band they have a sourate in Arabic, it says: 'Paradise exists in the shadow of the sword' (attention, islamist facebook pages of the Syrian revolution in english or other non arabic languages do not show material that can offend western readers).

UN chief demands investigation into Israeli attack on Gaza headquarters

A visibly furious Ban Ki-moon condemned as "outrageous, shocking and alarming" the destruction he had seen while touring Gaza...

Furious ? This was supposed to be the YES man for Israel and the US in the UN. To have made Ban Ki Moon furious is quite an achievement. But this does not surprise me coming from Israel. Israel is brute force, disregard for the weak, and the UN is weak. Combine brute force with disregard for the weak and you may get a feeling of what Palestinians are going through every day. The arrogance of this state has gone as far as accusing the Palestinians of their own misery in Gaza. ''You elected the wrong government, it is your fault'' says the official hasbara. And the official hasbara doesn't stop here. Palestinian children are starving in Gaza ? ''It is Hamas's fault, these people don't care about their children, they should give them food instead of sending rockets on Israel''. This line was heard yesterday on the BBC (homerun) by a certain Sara Saber-Freedman, from the Canada Israel committee. How can you answer such perverse accusations, denial of reality, lack of empathy, and outright lies ? You don't. You just switch off the radio...

The Iraq War: More lies and forgeries uncovered

This latest forgerie, that the Bush administration paid a former Saddam intelligence officer to write a letter about Saddam's ties with Al-Qaida, comes as no surprise. The motivations behind it as it was done after the invasion are exposed in this informed comment on the story from professor Cole.

In his Nobel lecture Solzhenitsyn wrote:
"But let us not forget that violence does not live alone and is not capable of living alone: it is necessarily interwoven with falsehood. Between them lies the most intimate, the deepest of natural bonds. Violence finds its only refuge in falsehood, falsehood its only support in violence. Any man who has once acclaimed violence as his METHOD must inexorably choose falsehood as his PRINCIPLE. At its birth violence acts openly and even with pride. But no sooner does it become strong, firmly established, than it senses the rarefaction of the air around it and it cannot continue to exist without descending into a fog of lies, clothing them in sweet talk. It does not always, not necessarily, openly throttle the throat, more often it demands from its subjects only an oath of allegiance to falsehood, only complicity in falsehood.
And the simple step of a simple courageous man is not to partake in falsehood, not to support false actions! Let THAT enter the world, let it even reign in the world - but not with my help.
ONE WORD OF TRUTH SHALL OUTWEIGH THE WHOLE WORLD."

And the Iraq war lies are a paradigm for the interdependance between lies and violence.

Iran training Al-Qaida ?

Well, at least that's what hopeful US presidential candidate and republican nominee John McCain said. Some may see it as a gaffe. But weren't Saddam's links to 9/11, relationships with Al-Qaida, and WMDs also gaffes ? They were documented gaffes, broadcasted, doctored, spinned, and never really taken back as their consequences continue to spill misery over millions of Iraqis and threaten an entire region.
Some may think that lies, which the Iraq war gaffes really are, are different from gaffes. But I think that McCain, not having to bother with the whole complexe issue of ME countries the US invades and their ethnic mosaics, learned the only official mantra in US foreign policy; what one says about the country the US wants to wage war on and invade is what is important, not the facts, not the facts...

So who cares if Saddam didn't have any relationship with Al-Qaida or wasn't linked to 9/11, or Iraq didn't have any WMDs, or Iran is not actually training Al-Qaida but some other groups which can be seen actually as Al-Qaida ennemies ? The most important thing is to make a case for war by proxy, by arguing that the US is threatened on its soil. Al-Qaida and 9/11 have been so far the best proxy. The argument that Iran is a threat to Israel doesn't seem to be convincing so far, Israel is surely a proxy, but not as much as the twin towers, hence McCain's gaffe, lie, or slip of the tongue...

Iraq's foreign militants 'come from US allies'

The last legal casus belli for the US going to war against Iran just doesn't work. Now they will have to invent the Uranium story from Nigeria, hopefully there won't be a CIA officer and her husband diplomat on their back so they can get away with their lies.
Oh and also it was repeated time and again that US allies in the ME are authoritarian regimes, and that submissiveness to the US of leaders in these countries, as well as their handling of their political opponents with the last trend in the west now, torture and unlawful imprisonement, are breeding extremism in their populations. But no sensible person in the US would look at this phenomenon. It is as if the US were determined to breed both submissiveness and terrorism in the ME, and ban moderation and common ground.

From The Guardian

"Around 60% of all foreign militants who entered Iraq to fight over the past year came from Saudi Arabia and Libya, according to files seized by American forces at a desert camp.

The files listed the nationalities and biographical details of more than 700 fighters who crossed into Iraq from August last year, around half of whom came to the country to be suicide bombers, the New York Times reported today.

In all, 305, or 41%, of the fighters listed were from Saudi Arabia. Another 137, or 18%, came from Libya. Both countries are officially US allies in anti-terrorism efforts.

In contrast, 56 Syrians were listed and no Lebanese. Previously, US officials estimated that around a fifth of all foreign fighters in Iraq came from these two countries.

US officials have also long complained about Iranian interference in the affairs of its neighbour, accusing Tehran of shipping weapons for militants over the border. However, any assistance does not appear to extend to people, the paper said, reporting that, of around 25,000 suspected militants in US custody in Iraq, 11 were Iranian. No Iranians were listed among the fighters whose details were found."

The Vandalism Of The Truth in the Iraq War Should Be Prosecuted

When ordinary citizen lie to an official representative of their government, being a judge, a policeman or a tax inspector, they are held responsible and prosecuted. But it is not the case with our rulers who appear to bear no consequences for their lies, even though these lies have had tremendous tragic consequences like the wrecking of a country, the killing of hundreds thousands, and an irreversible damage to citizens security and basic rights.

I think the main effect of the Iraq war and the 'War on Terror' will be felt for a long time to come in our commitment, as a society, to live up to our ideals; Justice, Truth and Rationality, those ideals the West has proclaimed his own and has so cheerfully trampled on. As long as the Bush administration and its allies are not prosecuted for the amount of lies, fabrications, suffering and prejudice they produced, we can consider ourselves in danger of loosing these core values that make us human beings. Make no mistake, the immorality of the Iraq war is not only in its illegal character but also in the incredible amount of lying rulers have done to their people in order to wage this war.

''A report presented to the armed services committee by the Pentagon's inspector general, Thomas Gimble, exposes the Bush administration to new charges of manipulating intelligence to make its case for going to war against Saddam nearly four years ago.''

And what is the answer of one of the main culprits ? I am not guilty because I am not endorsing a lie that we fabricated in order to test and go against the consensus in the intelligence community, even though this lie has had tragic consequences.

''Mr Feith, who left the Pentagon in 2005 for a post at Georgetown University, yesterday played down the influence of his unit. "This was not an alternative intelligence assessment," he told the Washington Post. "It was from the start a criticism of the consensus of the intelligence community, and in presenting it I was not endorsing its substance."
